Eilersen Tub Sofa
Jens Juul Eilersen created a gigantic “sofa bathtub” with a blend of soft foam, down, and pillows. The Tub sofa is the most remarkable and peaceful in the Eilersen collection. The contrast between a slim outer shell and down-wrapped cushions creates the function of the form. It’s like sitting on a soft bed. The Tub’s frame is light and streamlined, while its thin shell keeps the large, airy, soft cushions in place. The lines are straight, clean, and the cushions yield smooth organic lines.
The entire sitting comfort in Tub lies in the foam, which is softer due to its considerable depth. This extra depth provides a feeling of greater height and submersion than in any other Eilersen sofas. According to the designer Jens Juul Eilersen, sitting in Tub is like sitting in a large mug of foaming beer or on a cloud of down. Eilersen promises that although Tub is soft, inviting, and provoking, it cannot become flattened.
The Tub is available in two depths, 37″ or 41″, and the series contains corner, end, and center sections, which can be combined as desired to create your perfect arrangement.
“My goal was to create a well-being sofa where you can sit as if on a soft bed. And I succeeded! I actually fell asleep the first time I leaned back into the prototype, which was the deepest version,” tells Jens Juul Eilersen. “When I woke up, I could certainly see that I had to develop a variation of the model in which people could stay awake.”
